Project: To install LED lighting that meets the recommended lux levels provided by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA)
The Brief -
After visiting one of our previous LED installations at Bridge Tennis Club in Canterbury, Elham Sports Club were keen to upgrade the lighting on both of their outdoor tennis courts. The aim at Elham Sports Club was to replace the old lighting with new LED lighting that meets the recommended lux levels provided by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
The Solution -
Elham are the first to take advantage of a unique lens that we have recently developed specifically for tennis courts. Designed to be unobtrusive, the FS lens pushes over 95% of the light forward and directs it downwards to minimise any light spillage behind or above the position of the light. This helps to keep the surrounding neighbours happy and keeps our products in line with the Dark-sky policy which encourages the use of full-cut off fixtures that cast little or no light upward in public areas to reduce light pollution.
Mounting and location is paramount to sports applications. We’ve designed the FS lens so the LED light can be installed perpendicular to the ground which has massive benefits in sports applications such as clear and uniform illuminance and glare control.
As part of our service we go back for a commissioning visit where we measure the light levels and make any adjustments as needed. We prepare a handover document and include all measuring results from commissioning to ensure LTA criteria is met, this includes 117 measuring points as per the requirements of the LTA. In this case there were no adjustments needed and all LTA criteria was met.
