LED Lighting Upgrade:
Orebro, Sweden
Expected results and benefits:
Only 0.9 kW total installed capacity
The number of fixtures halved (no extra fixtures for pedestrian & cycle path was needed)
The requirement of illuminance road class M4 is achieved on the road
To run the lights at full power, 12 hours a day will cost around £335 / year
Project: To improve the lighting on the road and pedestrian and cycle path
The Brief -
Örebro improved the pedestrian and cycling opportunities in Mobackavägen by placing a pedestrian & cycle path parallel to the driving route. The idea was to highlight the car, road, pedestrian and cycle path from the light poles, thus saving the cost of having to install 2 sets of lighting.
The Solution -
The choice of lighting fell on our Phoenix 6. The Phoenix 6 is an energy efficient luminaire running at only 66 watts, providing a neutral white light at 4000 Kelvin. We used special optics to illuminate both the car and road as well as the pedestrian and bicycle path that runs parallel behind the luminaire. We managed to install the luminaires onto light poles at 8m high and 40m apart due to the wide spread of light there was no compromise in safety.
Phoenix has been replaced by the Norrsken Range.
